Presented by Dr. Cindy Ryan, an Associate Professor and EC Program Coordinator at Western Oregon University. She has 20 years of experience as an early childhood/early childhood special educator in inclusive programs prior to moving into higher education.

IEP Laws, Rights & Tools

Learn about the Individualized Education Program (IEP) and how to utilize it and advocate for inclusion. Guest speaker Chris Shank has practiced education law in Oregon for over 20 years, with a focus on representing children who experience disability. She recently joined Youth, Rights and Justice’s Schoolworks program team and is advocating for youth in the dependency and delinquency systems.

Inclusive Goal Writing

Presenter Noelle Sisk is the mother of four amazing children with diverse gifts and needs and works with educators and parents of children with disabilities in ways that demonstrate respect for their differing roles while simultaneously bringing them together toward the same goal: the social/emotional well being and academic success of children with disabilities.

This session will help you understand a variety of ways visuals can be used to support all children’s learning and what you can start doing at home. This session will also help you think about how you can support your student's school and Visual supports and the IEP.

Presenter Molly Hulett lives in Oregon City and is the parent to two children, one of whom experiences Down syndrome. Molly is a former graduate of ABI’s Kindergarten Inclusion Cohort, and is currently a teacher at Clackamas ESD.
