Washington Residents: Act Now to Keep Children with Developmental Disabilities Out of Institutions

For Washington Residents: Call your legislators today if you are concerned about the continued use of institutions in Washington State! SB 5371 would negatively impact people with developmental disabilities in the community. It would reopen Yakima Valley for new admissions (one of our four state developmental disabilities institutions) and would allow children to be placed back in institutions again. This practice was stopped last year and a new Community Crisis Stabilization Services program was created. SB 5371 would also put a number of up to 900 people in law of how many could be placed in the institutions. Currently there are only 809 people.
